FASHION VOCABULARY 101: KNOW YOUR SLEEVES
Sleeves... seems like a word everyone throws around but do we really know what this word means and how many sleeves we have?.
With the revolution of fashion and the way styles are just being thrown here and there, it can be easy to just get lost while following the trend. There are just so many things to follow and you find yourself short of description when you see that "oga or madam tailor or even a friend"
Anyways, this is what it means,sleeve is a part of a garment that that the arm goes through or protects the arm.
No more stories. have here few of the trending sleeves in vogue now and hope it helps someone's fashion repertoire.
Bell Sleeves: A long sleeve fitted from the shoulder to the elbow and flared form elbow downward.
Butterfly Sleeve:It is a type of sleeve that starts from the shoulder and becomes wider as it goes downward. The difference between this and Bell sleeves is that butterfly sleeves do not go completely round the arm.
Cold Shoulder Sleeves: A long sleeve that is disconnected past the stitching on top of the
shoulder, but not underneath, where the armpit is. The top of the bicep is
exposed.
Kimono Sleeves: A sleeve cut in one
with the bodice in a wide sloping shape, similar to that on traditional Chinese
robes.
Lantern Sleeves: Full, gathered
sleeve where the top part of the sleeve is plain and the cuff balloons out
halfway between wrist and elbow.
