STYLE: BUSINESS CASUAL TIPS
When talking about a business casual look, one is expecting a relaxed look in a professional context; to achieve this look, it entails a neat yet informal attire and is generally more casual than informal business attire that is a semi formal attire. This look is mostly for ladies in the creative industries but anyone can pull it off.
Rummaging your closet to pick a perfect outfit because you are giving a speech or presentation at work can be super nerve-wracking… also, getting dressed for occasions can be just as stressful. When all eyes are on you, you want to look professional and presentable while making a style statement without being ostentatious.
This can be very complicated at times, because after going through all that stress, few of us end up being overdressed or under-dressed for such occasions. Today’s write up is focused on a business casual look tips
- Going into the business of the day, choosing shirts with collars, white button down shirts are the safest but any other color is acceptable as long as the pant or skirt is not overwhelming.
- Keep your shirts and pants or skirts in formal fabric (Cotton will do any day any time, wool can also fly but silk, rayon and linen won’t do it for a business casual)
- Pants like khaki, dress pants and corduroy pants are most suitable, but a jean is frowned upon, a jean is definitely a NO NO!!!….
- Avoid pants in loud colours so as not to be looking as a joke.
- A white pant might not be so appropriate, this is because they feel a little too informal for a business casual, well if you can pull it off, Kudos to you…feel free to dare fashion with your own imaginations!!!
- Colours like black, grey, brown dark blue and khaki will definitely give you that prim business casual look you want. Go for it girl!!!
- You might consider pairing your shirt with a sweat top, though this is a bit daring for a business casual outfit, just note that pulling off this look is best combined with a V- neck sweat top.
- Paring a turtleneck with blazer will give you that sleek look you desire too.
- Skirts and dresses are other options too; just remember that your skirt or dress hem falls just above the knees or in the knee for easy movement and when you sit.
- Opt for leather shoes, flat trouser shoes, high heels that are comfortable for you and avoid open toe shoes.
- Complement your business casual look with a simple purse and light accessories.
