Beauty tips: Finding your skin Undertones
Like any other physical trait,
everyone’s coloring is different. Accordingly, there is a unique selection of
colors that will suit you better than others.
To determine your ideal wardrobe’s
color scheme, you must first identify your coloring. One effective way of doing
so involves undertones and contrast levels.
Warm undertones: You have gold or peachy hues and look best in warm colors and earth tones like olive, beige and yellow.
Cool undertones: You have pink or blue hues and look best in cool colors like purple, gray and aqua.
Neutral undertones: No obvious yellow or pink tones, it’s difficult to tell if your veins are blue or green.
The vein test
- Look at the veins on the inside of your arm. Veins that appear blue-green indicate warm undertones while veins that appear blue-purple indicate cool undertones.
- If you can't tell the difference, then you have a neutral undertone.
The jewelry test
- If your color is not clear, then ask yourself: do you prefer wearing gold or silver jewelry? Gold complements warmer undertones while silver complements cooler undertones and both gold and silver complements neutral undertones
The white cloth test
- Grab a pure white piece of clothing and an off-white piece of clothing. Hold them up to your face one at a time, if you look better in white then your undertones are warm. If you look washed out in pure white and better in off-white, then your undertones are probably cool. Feel great in both colors? Your skin may have neutral undertones.
